Currus Biologics, a biotechnology company focused on improving lives by developing CAR T-cell therapy for solid tumour indications using its BEAT technology will attend this year’s BIO-Europe Convention.

BIO-Europe® is scheduled to take place 24 – 26 October 2022 in Leipzig, Germany and represents more than 3500 attendees, 110 presenting companies, from over 60 countries.

Currus Biologics Currus Biologics is combining its proprietary Bispecific Engagers of Antigen Presenting Cells and T cells (BEAT) technology with CAR-T therapy to treat solid tumours. Currus Biologics’ proprietary BEAT technology overcomes many of the challenges presented when treating solid tumours with traditional CAR-T cell therapy. Addition of the BEAT has demonstrated CAR-T cell proliferation and persistence, CAR-T cell trafficking to the tumour and immunological memory extending to additional antigens.

CAR T-cells have shown immense benefit in blood cancers, such as leukemia and multiple myeloma, with complete regression rates exceeding 80%. While CAR T-cell therapy is reshaping the treatment of blood tumours; these represent only 10% of cancer related deaths, leaving a huge unmet need for solid tumours, the remaining 90%. In solid tumours such breast, ovarian, lung and colon, CAR T-cell therapy has failed to deliver anywhere near these rates, with only limited responses reported.

The company’s most advanced drug candidate, CUR-001, is being developed as a first-in-class combination of CAR T-cell therapy and BEAT bi-specific antibody for the treatment of mesothelin positive cancers, which include lung, ovarian and triple-negative breast cancers.
